Who was Elizabeth Stevens Brown?
Miss Elizabeth Stevens Brown, daughter of a coachman for the Frank S. Stevens family, was born on December 17, 1879.  Miss Brown began teaching in 1901 as a Primary room teacher, in a two-room wooden school house not far from where the school sits today.   In 1910 Miss Brown moved her class to the newly completed  Stevens School, where she taught the intermediate grades, and in 1932 became the principal.
Miss Brown was a person of strong characteristics.  Throughout her life Miss Brown respected the dignity and worth of the individual.  She strived to develop each of her pupils to the greatest use of their capabilities.

The school celebrated its 50th anniversary during the 2006-2007 school year!
